Cerclage Removal Day @ UNC

Well, the "SIMPLE" snip of the cervical stitches ended up turning into nearly a 12 hour stay at the hospital today! - I guess nothing turns out to be easy for the Dupree Family...we seem to have it ALL happen to us!

Apparently when the Dr. put in the stitch he did a heck of a good job. It took two Drs. 3 attempts...once without anything, once while I was sedated, and finally I ended up in the Operating Room to remove the stitches.

Then while in the OR my first spinal didn't take, so I had a second one, which I later decided the first had halfway taken on top of the full second one, so it seemed to take twice a long for my numbness to wear off so I could walk and be released to go home. Once I could walk, the nurse quickly brought in the wheelchair to take me downstairs...all the while FORGETTING I had requested a cervical check prior to my departure. By that time all the Drs. were in deliveries, so we spend yet another hour waiting.

The results...well, I'm home. No baby today, but it doesn't look like it'll be long though before I deliver. I'm dialated 1 cm, 50% effaced and the baby is head down. Wow!

Now for the prayer request. Please pray that the Lord would have my water break as a sure sign that it is time to go to the hospital to deliver. The typical signs of labor for me don't seem to kick in until I'm already at 9 cm. which would be a bit to late to start heading to the hospital. As you all know, this will be my first pregnancy to fully "experience" out of the hospital.

Thanks again for your prayers so far during this pregnancy, and please contiune to do so as we await the arrival of our new little one!

I'll try to keep you posted as things progress!

Misty
